CDF Banquet to be a Dreamy Affair!

CDF Banquet to be a Dreamy Affair!

The Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF) is planning a very special evening for its third annual Banquet Dinner and Fundraiser in conjunction with the Directors' Forum, taking place on Friday, September 30th at the Courtyard by Marriott, in downtown Toronto.

In addition to a plated three-course meal, delegates will be treated to a live auction conducted by the one and only Tim Foster, Directors’ Forum Executive Chair.  Reconnect with your fellow co-operators to the sounds of some good ol’ fashioned Rock n’ Roll by The Dreamboats, who will play selections from The Beatles, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and more!  All delegates to the Directors’ Forum and their guests are invited to this special event, which is open to individuals from the credit union, caisse populaire, and co-operative sectors interested in attending (although seating is limited).

We would also like to take this opportunity to invite co-ops, credit unions, and co-operators to donate unique and interesting items to our exclusive silent and live auctions. We welcome any interest regarding sponsorship for this event; contact us to discuss the opportunities currently available.

Delegates and individuals must pre-register for the Banquet Dinner, the proceeds of which will support CDF’s incredible work to alleviate global poverty. Tickets are $100 + HST.

Please contact Gonzalo Rodriguez, Fundraising Officer, at gonzalo.rodriguez@coopscanada.coop or at 1.866.266.7677 ext. 229 to donate an item, purchase a ticket, or obtain more information.

CDF Gratitude Report 2016

The Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF) published its third annual Gratitude Report this January.

Like in past years, this year's Gratitude Report has been published in appreciation of all of CDF's supporters, including volunteers, individuals, co-ops, credit unions, and other businesses from across Canada. It also demonstrates the impact that their contributions have made to CDF's projects around the globe.

Since 2012, CDF and its implementing partner the Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA) have worked to reduce poverty and increase prosperity by strengthening credit unions and co-operatives in 22 countries. In this time, volunteers have contributed nearly 10,000 volunteer days, and donors have contributed nearly 9 million dollars to support international projects. This time, talent, and treasure are essential in CDF's ability to leverage support from international development partners, including Global Affairs Canada.

CDF's Gratitude Report highlights some of our supporters' stories, as well as some stories of how they are helping to Build a Better World

To request copies of the report, please contact CDF at cdf@coopscanada.coop.

Arctic Co-operatives Limited increases its annual pledge to CDF

The Board of Directors of Arctic Co-operativess Limited has voted to renew and increase its pledged contribution to the Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF) by 25%, to $50,000 over the next four years.

“Arctic Co-operatives Limited is pleased to support the important work undertaken by CDF around the world,” says Arctic Co-operative Limited Chief Executive Officer Andy Morrison. “The board is very appreciative of the support provided by CDF, through the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Co-op Development Program, to Old Crow Co-op in Old Crow, Yukon, the newest member of the co-op family in the Arctic.”

“We applaud Arctic Co-operatives Limited for this generous increase,” says CDF and CCA Executive Director Michael Casey. “Their sustained commitment helps us to reach more families living in the most vulnerable communities in Africa, Asia and the Americas with tools to help them achieve economic prosperity. The simple math is that the more donations we receive, the more resources we can leverage from funders to do more good work where it is needed.”

With nearly $9 million raised since 2012, CCA, on behalf of CDF, has been able to leverage a further $35 million from international development funders to support  our mission. Last year alone, CCA programs helped 3.4 million co-op members in 18 countries build lasting pathways out of poverty through their credit unions and co-operatives.

“We are helping families move out of poverty, and our global reach is expanding,” says Mr. Casey. “Given the  proven impact that community co-operatives  have on the lives of millions of families around the world, we encourage our Canadian co-operatives and all those who share our co-operative values and principles to continue their generous support for our work.”
