CDF Canada and OCCZIM Partner to Strengthen Co-operative Development in Zimbabwe

OCCZIM - Development Support Services For Household Food Security, Employment Creation and Income GenerationThe Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF Canada) is proud to announce a new partnership with the Organization of Collective Co-operatives in Zimbabwe (OCCZIM), a national apex body advancing the cooperative movement across Zimbabwe. This partnership brings together two organizations grounded in cooperative values and committed to building lasting, locally driven impact.

Rooted in mutual respect and shared purpose, CDF Canada and OCCZIM will collaborate to strengthen member-owned cooperatives, promote food security and environmental resilience, and empower women and youth through inclusive economic development. At a time when communities across Zimbabwe face growing social and economic pressures, this partnership reinforces the role of co-operatives as powerful vehicles for self-reliance and resilience.

The partnership will focus on scaling climate-smart agriculture, deepening cooperative leadership, and amplifying grassroots innovation across Zimbabwe’s communities. Together, OCCZIM and CDF Canada share a vision of co-operative development that is democratic, locally owned, and anchored in the needs of the communities it serves.

OCCZIM, founded in 1983, represents and supports a vibrant network of collective cooperatives. Through advocacy, training, and peer-led collaboration, OCCZIM helps members build stronger institutions and more sustainable livelihoods. Their mission reflects a deep commitment to social equity and co-operative solidarity—values that are core to CDF Canada’s international work.

This partnership represents not just a shared set of goals, but a shared way of working—cooperatively. Through knowledge exchange, joint projects, and aligned strategies, OCCZIM and CDF Canada will support each other in advancing a stronger, more inclusive cooperative future in Zimbabwe and beyond.
