CDF Canada and Community Agribusiness Partners Collaborate to Strengthen Co-operative Farming Models

Community Agribusiness Partners | LinkedInThe Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF Canada) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Community Agribusiness Partners (CAP), a network of locally rooted organizations working across East Africa to build sustainable, farmer-led agribusinesses. This partnership reflects a shared belief in the power of co-operatives and collective learning to drive rural development, food security, and inclusive economic transformation.

CDF Canada and CAP will collaborate to support the formation, governance, and management of farmer co-operatives and community banking groups. With a focus on co-operative resilience, climate-smart agriculture, and value chain integration, this partnership aims to equip smallholder farmers with the tools, knowledge, and networks they need to lead their own development. In a time of growing uncertainty for rural communities, this collaboration reinforces the role of co-operatives in unlocking long-term, locally owned solutions.

CAP’s Community Agribusiness (CAB) model is rooted in participatory learning and collective business planning. With deep experience working alongside farming communities and a legacy that traces back to the Clinton Development Initiative, CAP has built strong relationships with government and private sector stakeholders across the region. Its unique coalition model supports hybrid scaling and deep community engagement, aligning well with CDF Canada’s co-operative development approach.

Together, CDF Canada and CAP will explore joint projects, knowledge exchange, and field-based learning opportunities designed to scale impact and promote inclusive, sustainable growth. This partnership affirms the value of local leadership, shared vision, and farmer-driven innovation in shaping the future of agribusiness development across Africa.
