Ian MacPherson Legacy Fund

Honouring Ian MacPherson’s Legacy: Supporting the Next Generation of Co-operative Leaders

The Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF Canada), in collaboration with Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC) and the Canadian Association for Studies in Co-operation, established a scholarship fund in memory of Dr. Ian MacPherson to commemorate his lifelong contributions to the study and promotion of co-operatives.

As a scholar, educator, and co-operative activist, Dr. MacPherson embodied the vital connection between Canadian co-operative academics and practitioners. He served as president of both the Canadian Co-operative Association (now CMC) and Credit Union Central of British Columbia (now part of Central 1 Credit Union) and contributed extensively to the sector through research, writing, and leadership. His works, including A Century of Co-operation, continue to shape co-operative thought and practice in Canada.

Donations to this fund support students in co-operative studies and emerging leaders in the co-operative and credit union sector. These contributions provide young professionals with the opportunity to attend learning events and conferences where they gain knowledge, broaden their perspectives, and share their insights by speaking at key industry events.
