Showcasing Co-operative Impact at NGO Day 2025 in Malawi
On August 29, 2025, CDF Canada proudly joined national celebrations for NGO Day 2025 in Mzuzu, Ma
lawi, through our Integrated Aquaculture and Agriculture in Malawi (IAAM) Project. This annual event, organized by the Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, NGORA, and CONGOMA, brought together organizations from across the country under the theme:
“Harnessing Local Resources for Sustainable Development: Advancing the Impact of the NGO Sector Towards Malawi 2063.”
Walking in Solidarity & Showcasing Innovation
The day began with a Solidarity Walk led by the Minister of Gender, Hon. Jean Muonaouza Sendeza, MP, from the Mzuzu High Court to Mzuzu Stadium. At the stadium, our team welcomed visitors to a vibrant CDF Canada pavilion, where we highlighted how integrated farming is:
The Minister, along with other government officials, visited our booth, showing keen interest in our work and celebrating the tangible results being achieved across Malawi.
Celebrating Growth of the NGO Sector
Throughout the event, go
vernment representatives emphasized the expanding role of NGOs in Malawi’s development. Employment in the sector has grown from fewer than 10,000 Malawians in 2021 to over 28,000 in 2025, and NGO contribut
ions now amount to more than MK1 trillion annually—demonstrating the sector’s critical role in service delivery, job creation, and economic resilience.
The day concluded with a Gala Dinner, where our Country Manager represented CDF Canada, networking with key stakeholders and celebrating the achievements of the NGO sector.
Looking Ahead
Our participation in NGO Day 2025 strengthened partnerships, enhanced visibility, and deepened knowledge exchange with fellow organizations. The recognition
from government leaders affirms the impact of our work and motivates us to continue contributing to Malawi’s vision for 2063.
As we move forward, CDF Canada remains committed to building stronger, more resilient communities through co-operative approaches that empower people, advance food security, and drive sustainable development.
