2022 WMP Graduation

CONGRATULATIONS to all the women in the 2022 WPM cohort!
We’d like to extend our thanks to the Canadian credit union hosts and heartfelt congratulations to all the women who participated in CDF Canada’s 2022 Women’s Mentorship Program (WMP)! Watch the graduation video to see the big, confident, smiles on the faces of the graduates. Graduates like Andole Mang’anya – Corporate Affairs and Administrative Manager at Malawi Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives – wrote us to say, Thank you for such an amazing once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I learned a lot during my stay in Canada. I have already started seeing the fruits of the training. I am not the same young lady that I was two months back. Please do the same to many more ladies; it is a life-changing experience!”

WMP is UNIQUE!
Each year, CDF Canada – through the generous support of its credit union partners – the WMP helps to educate, train and inspire confidence in women leaders from around the world. The Women’s Mentorship Program, launched in 2002, is a unique and highly impactful program leveraging the expertise that exists within the Canadian co-operative system to advance the professional and personal growth of hundreds of women credit union managers worldwide.

WMP is IMPACFTFUL!
The Program provides participants with a unique opportunity to benefit from training specific to credit unions coupled with management development, mentoring by professionals in their field, and many knowledge-sharing and exchange opportunities. Since 2002, CDF Canada’s Women’s Mentorship Program has enabled 255 women credit union managers from 27 countries to receive this unique professional development experience which included a placement in over 200 credit unions across Canada! To hear how WMP impacted some of the women this year, watch the videos.

WMP positions Canadian credit unions as LEADERS!
Results from this program position Canada as a global brand in credit union development and build leadership capacity among women on a global scale. As with our approach to all CDF Canada’s work, WMP aligns with international priorities, including the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5: To achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

WMP would not be possible without our PARTNERS!
The Program is mutually beneficial – not only do the women benefit from this exceptional knowledge-sharing experience – it’s also a rare opportunity for employees from Canadian credit unions to learn and make a meaningful contribution to co-operators from around the world. It is notable to know that many participants and hosts have stayed connected for many years and continue their exchanges. Host savings and credit unions generously volunteer their time and resources towards placements, even hosting participants in their homes and providing tours so the women benefit from a robust Canadian experience.  This unique and value-add approach would not be possible without the incredible support of our Canadian savings and credit union community. This year, the following credit unions made our work possible:
