Overcoming cyclone and drought, vegetable seed provides food and additional revenue for farmer’s family

When Tropical Cyclone Freddy struck Malawi in spring 2023, its devastating effects were felt deeply across communities. Among those hardest hit was Roseby Mukawa. The cyclone left her crops in ruins and her family's future uncertain. The Tropical Cyclone Recovery Project supported Roseby with vegetable seeds, fertilizer, maize seeds and cassava cuttings which were crucial resources for rebuilding her farm and life.

Community resilience: How Margret supported community food security in natural disaster aftermath

In March 2023, Tropical Cyclone Freddy caused unprecedented destruction across Malawi, becoming one of the most devastating cyclones on record. The cyclone destroyed Margret Kholowa’s crops, but despite the adversity, Margret utilized the resources provided by CDF Canada to replant her farm.
