Climate Action

The impact of climate change is already being felt across the globe from rising temperature, erratic rainfall, drought, and more. Over the years, excessive use of land and water, and increasing pollution have had an irreversible impact on existing habitats and biodiversity. Smallholder farmers are being confronted with low production yields, the death of livestock, and declining populations of fish, resulting in reduced income and nutrition for the majority of the population.

As the threat of climate change on the environment, biodiversity, and our society grow, it is essential to collectively take action and implement sustainable, evidence-based solutions. Social and economic models, such as co-operatives, are proven to support smallholder farmers in adapting to climate-smart agriculture practices, which help strengthen our agriculture and food systems.

We have been working with our partners across Africa, Africa, and Latin America to help provide education, knowledge, and strategies on the adoption of climate-smart agriculture practices while improving access to markets through better technology. These measures have resulted in increased production, revenue, and biodiversity, alongside a reduction in environmental impact and emissions – allowing the farmers to be more resilient to climate change.
